Visitation for Dennis will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Thursday, November 17, 2016, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Dennis’ family will be greeting friends from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Thursday. A second visitation for Dennis will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 18, 2016, at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Dennis’ family will be greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday evening. A celebration of Dennis’ life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Burial will be held at Dibble Cemetery south of Stockport. Dennis was born on January 5, 1956, the son of Darrell Deane and Janet Ilene (White) Pratt in Keosauqua, Iowa. Dennis grew up on the family farm north of Bonaparte, Iowa. He had gone to Harmony School for elementary and graduated from Van Buren Schools in 1975. He helped on the family farm and worked at his grandparent’s store, White’s Shopping Center until he had gone to college. He graduated from the welding program at Indian Hills Community College and then was employed by Vermeer’s in Pella for over 10 years as a welder. Later he was employed by Christian Opportunity Center in Pella and had worked at Hardee’s and Happy Joe’s through the C.O.C. program. August 7, 1976 Dennis married Beverly Forbes in Le Grand, Iowa. Together they had a daughter Kelly. Dennis was a long-time former resident of the Pella community until 2006. At that point he moved to Knoxville. He made frequent trips to see his parents after lea and to help them on the farm. In his younger years he loved to fish and hunt, especially Morels. He enjoyed reading magazines, model ship building, jig saw puzzles, swimming, playing battleship, and chess. Dennis was a very trusting and hardworking, loving person, and a great hugger. He was a nice, kind, and gentle man who made friends with anyone he met. Dennis was “rich”, not in the monetary sense, but in making and having friends. A man is rich if he has at least one good friend and Dennis had a lot of “Good” friends who will miss him. Dennis is survived by her daughter Kelly Pratt and fiancée Jeff Koster; former wife Beverly of Le Grand, Iowa; five sisters, Dena Pratt of Dexter, Iowa, Diana (Mark) Howe of Mukiteo, Washington, Darcy Pratt of Woodinville, Washington, Dee (Jeff) Auxier of Aurora, Illinois, and Deborah (Scott) VanDorin of St. Charles, Illinois; four nieces,; two great-nephews; cousins; aunts and uncles. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Darrell and Janet Pratt; his grandparents, Rollo and Helen (McComb) White and Worthy and Ethel Vera (Harper) Pratt; and his brother-in-law Ronald Sanders A memorial has been established in Dennis’s memory to the Christian Opportunity Center, Special Olympics, or Tenco.
