Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donors choice that benefits Veterans. Dennis Eugene Marxen was born December 26, 1946, in Davenport, the son of Bernard and Eleanor (Marten) Marxen. He attended and graduated from Davenport West High School in 1965. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Eileen Czarnetzki. He was employed as an Electrician for many years, until retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Blue Grass American Legion. Denny enjoyed working on cars with his friends in the garage, going to drag racing at the Cordova Dragway and attending his grandson's sporting events. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family. Surviving are his wife, Eileen; two daughters, Betty Lynn Marxen of East Moline, IL, and Pam Howard of Bennett; two step-sons, Jimmy (Kelli Murphy) Carson of Fort Madison and Terry (Jon) Czarnetzki of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Levi, Patricia, Shelby and Bryce; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Judith Sloane of Cedar Rapids and Jeannette (Eugene) Furness of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jeraldine Smith and Joyce Yaddof and two brothers, Wayne and Gary Marxen. Bentley Funeral Homes
