He was born Sept. 22, 1943, in Leipsic to Clifford "Tipp" and Ruth Jeffries Brooks, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 18, 1965, he married Joyce Coolidge. Mr. Brooks was a member of Elida Immanuel United Methodist Church. He worked at Westinghouse Corp. for 30 years and retired in June 1996. He was a Navy veteran. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Darin (Terri) Brooks, of Spencerville; two daughters, Judy (J.R.) Long, of Elida, and Amber (J.R.) Kerns, of Lima; four grandchildren, Kaitlynn Brooks, of Spencerville, and Kelsey, Tracey, and Paul Long of Elida; a brother, Frank (Diane) Brooks, of North Baltimore; a sister, Virginia (Charles) Critten, of Leipsic; and two sisters-in-law, Sonya Brooks, of Cridersville, and Wilma Brooks, of Arlington. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Immanuel United Methodist Church, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. The Rev. Mike Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Cemetery in Elida. Lima News August 12, 2012
