He had been seriously ill since last February. His condition became critical a week prior to his death. Funeral services were held in Sacred Heart Church here Monday morning. In the absence of Father Portrey, Father Gonda of O'Connor conducted the services and preached a sermon on death. Casketbearers were Harry Prisendorf of Grand Island, Roger Mulcahy, John T. Ryan,. James O'Connor, Floyd Emerson and John Lammers. Honorary pallbearers were grandnieces and nephews of the deceased. They were Bill Plith of Grand Island, Bill Dugan of Greeley, Anna Marie, Alice, Rita and Helen Nealon of Aurora. The deceased is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Phil Carven of Los Angeles, three sisters and one brother. They are Mrs. Julia Donnelly and Mrs. Irene Lyons of Grand Island, James Stark of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Robert Harris of Greeley. All were here for the funeral. Others from out of town attending the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schecht of Omaha, Dr. and Mrs. A. R. Plith of Grand Island, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Nealon and family of Aurora and Mrs. Mamie Stark of Elm Creek. Mr. Stark was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stark, the deceased was born at York April 8, 1892. (Locally his father was known as John Stark). He moved with his parents to Greeley in 1906 where he grew to manhood. The family lived on a farm three miles north of Greeley. The last ten years he made his home at Grand Island. Of late years he had been employed at the Palmer hotel in the third city.
