Description	:	Services were held Saturday for Denny R Swartz, 52, originally of State Center. He died Wednesday at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames after having been in failing health for the past year. He was born June 9, 1925 at State Center, the son of John and Marie Richerodt Swartz. He was educated in State Center, graduating from State Center High Scholl in 1943. Read More	Services were held Saturday for Denny R Swartz, 52, originally of State Center. He died Wednesday at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames after having been in failing health for the past year. He was born June 9, 1925 at State Center, the son of John and Marie Richerodt Swartz. He was educated in State Center, graduating from State Center High Scholl in 1943. He attended Marshalltown Community College for two years and in 1950 graduated from Drake University. He served in the submarine service of the U.S. Navy during World War II from September 21, 1943 until March 18, 1946. He was married to Joan Collins on December 18, 1949 and they lived in Albion for a few years before moving to Marshalltown where they had since resided. Mr Swartz was employed at Dunham-Bush Co. for 20 years and at Lennox Industries for the past six years. He was a member of the Earl L. Wall Post 581 of the American Legion in Albion for 31 years, a member of the First United Methodist Church, a former member of the Marshalltown Men's Chorus and was active in several community vocal projects. Survivors besides his wife and two children, Jeff Swartz of Newton and Cynthia (Mrs Jerry) Kutzner of Marshalltown, two grandchildren and his parents, Mr and Mrs John D Swartz of State Center. Burial was at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with flag folding ceremonies by the Earl L. Wall Post 581, American Legion. November 23, 1977 State Center Enterprise.
