He came with his parents to Kansas when six years old. They located on a farm near Rice where he grew to manhood. Read More	The Concordia News - 22 May 1933: Desera Doyen was born in Braidwood, Illinois, October 10, 1874, and departed this life April 27, 1933, at the age of 58 years, 6 months and 17 days. He came with his parents to Kansas when six years old. They located on a farm near Rice where he grew to manhood. He was married to Lizzie Vignery Dec 20, 1905, and moved to his farm one mile east of Rice, where he has since resided. To this union were born three children: Walter and Levi of Rice and Belva of the home. He was converted and baptized at the Christian Church on November 5, 1922, where he took an active part in all church work and was chairman of the official board of the congregation at the time of his death. He was a member of the Woodman and Odd Fellows lodges of Concordia. Also interested in the Farmers Union organization. He is survived by his widow and three children, two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lucy McCahan of Concordia; four brothers, Anthony, Joe, Girard and John of Rice; one niece, three nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Doyen was a successful farmer and stock raiser. Of a quiet disposition, he took a deep interest in his home and children, his church and lodges. He always maintained the highest respect of all who knew him and had a reputation for integrity in business and kindness in his association with others. He will be sadly missed in his home, in his church and by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Concordia on Sunday, April 30, 1933, at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. F.S. Smith.
