Description	:	Dewayne E. Fegter, 66, of Kearney died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at his home north of Kearney. Dewayne was born Sept. 22, 1944, in Franklin to George and Lydia (Kuster) Fegter. On Sept. 26, 1965, he married Judith A. "Judy" Meade in Macon. Survivors are: wife; sons, Mike Fegter and his wife, Mary, of Kearney and Chris Fegter and his wife, Ann, of Lincoln; granddaughters, Morgan and Mychaela Fegter of Kearney; brother, Gerald Fegter and his wife, Marti, of Trophy Cup, Texas; and sister, Elvera Frerichs and her husband, Dale, of Hildreth. Dewayne was born Sept. 22, 1944, in Franklin to George and Lydia (Kuster) Fegter. On Sept. 26, 1965, he married Judith A. "Judy" Meade in Macon. Survivors are: wife; sons, Mike Fegter and his wife, Mary, of Kearney and Chris Fegter and his wife, Ann, of Lincoln; granddaughters, Morgan and Mychaela Fegter of Kearney; brother, Gerald Fegter and his wife, Marti, of Trophy Cup, Texas; and sister, Elvera Frerichs and her husband, Dale, of Hildreth. Dewayne grew up on the family farm west of Macon and received his education in Macon/Franklin area. He entered the service on Dec. 28, 1962, and served in the U.S. Air Force until he was discharged on Dec. 12, 1966. Following his discharge, he and Judy lived in Colby, Kan., before moving to Kearney in 1970. Dewayne established Dewayne's Auto Repair in Kearney and operated it for more than 30 years until his health failed recently. Dewayne attended Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasanton and was a member of Kearney American Legion Post 52. He enjoyed Husker football games and racing stockcars with his family at racetracks in northern Kansas and Nebraska. He also enjoyed playing golf with his sons and spending time with his family and friends. Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents. Published in Kearney Hub on September 9, 2011
