Description	:	Diana Rae McCann was born November 16, 1948 in Huron, South Dakota to Ralph H. and Rosina A. (Rowen) Yager. She grew up on a farm west of Wessington, where she attended grade school. She attended high school in Miller, graduating with the MHS class of 1967. She then attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, where she graduated in 1972 with a B.A. in Math Education and a B.A. in Physical Eduation. She later received a M.A. in Math Education. (Rowen) Yager. She grew up on a farm west of Wessington, where she attended grade school. She attended high school in Miller, graduating with the MHS class of 1967. She then attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, where she graduated in 1972 with a B.A. in Math Education and a B.A. in Physical Eduation. She later received a M.A. in Math Education. While attending SDSU, Diana played basketball, softball, and field hockey and was the SDSU Jackrabbit Mascot. Diana married Gregory Charles McCann June 7, 1974 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Tyndall. They were the parents of Grant and Holly. Greg and Diana enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. She taught math and coached many sports teams in the Bon Homme School District for over 35 years. She initiated the first female basketball program and team in Bon Homme and coached the Girls’ Track Team, who won the State championship. Diana received many awards, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics. She also served on the State and National Board of Math and Science. Diana retired in 2009, and along with Greg, built and managed the Cogan House and Cogan House RV Park. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Tyndall, Tabor, Springfield, and Yankton as well as a part of Discover BH. She continued her love of sports and cheered on her favorite teams. She was also a 4-H Leader and an avid gardener. Diana died September 5, 2014 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 65 years, 9 months, and 20 days, due to a sudden illness. Survivors include her husband, Greg McCann of rural Tabor; children, Grant and Holly; two sisters, Annette and Dena; one brother, Duane; mother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Rosina Yager, and father-in-law, Gordon McCann. ...csr
