PETTYJOHN Diana M. Pettyjohn, 59, of rural Leighton, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella. At her request, she was cremated and a memorial graveside service and burial will be Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at 10 A.M. at Marysville Cemetery at Marysville, Iowa. No visitation is planned. Memorials may be made to the Comfort House at Pella. Arrangements are at the Bates Funeral Chapel of Oskaloosa. She was born Sept. 29, 1945 at Ottumwa, the daughter of Clifford Frank and Erma Faye Van Gilder McNeal. On Feb. 12, 1966, she was united in marriage to Leland D. Pettyjohn at Knoxville. She attended Indian Hills Community College and received her Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medical Assistant degrees. She worked at several nursing facilities in Knoxville, Oskaloosa (including the Mahaska County Care Facility and Siesta Park), and Albia (Cunningham's Care Center); and lastly worked at the Pella Regional Health Center. Through the years, she also worked at Oskaloosa Food Products and Pella Plastics. She also worked with Mahaska County Red Cross office. Her family includes her husband, Leland Pettyjohn of rural Leighton; three daughters: Deborah Gray of Rochelle, Ill.; Diana Fields, of Victorville, Calif.; and Cindy Doud, of Oskaloosa; a son: Max Pettyjohn, of Oskaloosa; four brothers: Don McNeal, of Sigourney, Billy McNeal, of Ottumwa, James McNeal, of Omaha, Neb., and Darel "Mickie" McNeal, of Clinton; and six sisters: Marcella Malone, of Clinton, Patty Leach, of Ottumwa, Jaye Morrow of Louisa, KY., Grace Hansen of Houston, Texas, Judy McNeal, of Ottumwa, and Jean Reno of Kenosha, WI.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her twin brother: Danny McNeal, another brother, David McNeal, and two brothers in infancy; and a sister: Carlyn Legel.
