Read More	Clarinda Herald Journal (Clarinda, Iowa) Thursday April 17, 1986 Dicie Chestnut services Friday Dicie Anna Chestnut [Chesnut], 87, of Clarinda, died Apr. 14, 1986 at Bethesda Care Center in Clarinda where she had lived for the past four years. She lived for nearly 60 years on a farm east of Braddyville. She was born June 22, 1898 in Buchanan Township in Page County, the daughter of Robert and Mary Anna (Laub) Davison. She married Ira Chestnut [Chesnut] on Dec. 24, 1919. During the time the couple lived on a farm near Braddyville, around 20 schoolteachers boarded with her. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Siam while young, and attended the United Methodist Church of Braddyville in later years. She served as a correspondent for the Clarinda Herald Journal for 50 years, until 1979. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ira, who died on Nov. 21, 1977; and her son, Robert, who died Mar. 20, 1945 while serving with the U.S. Army in Germany; four sisters, Bertha, Orphy, Dillie and an infant; three brothers, Ora, Rolla and Wilber. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Max (Pearl Pauline) Edwards of Council Bluffs, Ia; granddaughters, Mrs. Stephen (Paula Kaye) O'Neal of Braddyville and Mrs. Wayne (Robin Joy) Stahlnecker of Council Bluffs; a great-grandson, Aaron Nicholsen [Nicholson]; three brothers, Roy, Homer and Virgil Davison, all of Braddyville; and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held this Friday at 10:30 am, at the United Methodist Church at Braddyville, with Rev. Fred Malone and Donald Briley officiating. Burial will be in Shearer cemetery near Braddyville. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Church. Walker-Merrick funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
