Dick was born June 29, 1937 in Holdrege, the youngest of two children of Carl C. and Amelia (Hammer) Jensen. Dick was born June 29, 1937 in Holdrege, the youngest of two children of Carl C. and Amelia (Hammer) Jensen. He grew up in Holdrege except for a few years when his parents moved to Omaha, where his father was a civilian mechanics instructor at Ft. Crook. He received his education at Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1955. On November 4, 1956 he was united in marriage to Dixie Ward of Berwyn, Nebraska and to this union one son, Dane Craig was born. Dick worked for his father at Jensen's Auto Electric for several years. After his fathers death he worked for Sidles Company and later at Holdrege Seed and Farm Supply for nineteen years. He was also employed by Art's Building and Supply of Elwood, Interstate Structures of Kearney, Northern Pump and Irrigation of Henderson, Nebraska and was District Sales Manager for Grains Systems Inc. of Assumption, Illinois. He was baptized and joined the United Methodist Church on January 8, 1961. He taught Sunday school and served as an Usher and was Head Usher for many years. He was a past member of the Holdrege Lions Club and Elks Lodge #2062. He served on the Board of Directors of the Phelps County Historical Society. Dick's enjoyment in life was being around people. He had a passion for music, and enjoyed the friendship bonds formed while playing drums in several bands through the years. First and foremost in his life was his family. He enjoyed carving wood ducks and had a special hobby with his grandson Jordan, building model airplanes and attending many air shows throughout the state. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Dixie of Holdrege; one son, Dane Jensen and his wife, Susan of Holdrege; two grandchildren: Courtney Redfern and her husband, Phillip of Lincoln, Nebraska and Jordan Jensen of Whiteman AFB in Knob Noster, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gloria Clayton and her husband, William.
