Description	:	Dick Fedders, 88, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Sheldon, died Tuesday,March 12, 2002, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. Services were held on Friday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon. Revs. Brian Keepers and Terry Maassen officiated. Burial followed at Nassau Township Cemetery in Alton, under the direction of the Sheldon Funeral Service. Dick John Fedders was born Aug. 16, 1914, at Carnes, the son of John and Nettie (Vink) Fedders. He lived his youth in the Orange City and Alton areas where he attended country school. He married Gertrude B. Dorsman of Sheldon on Jan. 10,1940, at Sheldon. The couple lived in Sheldon where he owned and operated Fedders Hatchery until retiring. Mrs. Fedders died in August 1995. Dick lived at the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon until 1997 when he moved to the Inn on Westport in Sioux Falls. Mr. Fedders was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon and was the last living charter consistory member. He had been active with the youth leadership and taught Sunday School and catechism. He was on the board of trustees of Northwestern College in Orange City for several years. He valued the importance of education. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Fedders and his wife Crystal and Richard Fedders and his wife Mary of Sioux Falls and Norman Fedders of Leonminster, Mass.; a daughter, Glenda Brislawn of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bernice Pruis of Hudsonville, Mich., Nettie and Henry Mellema and Marie and John Maassen of Orange City, Johanna and Frank De Haan of Hudsonville, Mich.; a brother, Gerald Fedders of Battle Creek; and a stepsister, Alice and Arie Mans of Orange City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister, Grace Nibbelink. Sioux County Capital Democrat - 21 March 2002
