The groom is one of the best known young men of Thayer county (sic), Nebraska and has a home prepared for his bride at Byron, Nebraska, where they will make their future home. The Sentinel joins with their many friends in wishing them the best this life affords. ======================================== The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, August 27, 1964; pg. 15 Dietrich (Dick) Henry Abelbeck, son of William Abelbeck and his wife, Sophia (nee) Hoops was born May 22, 1947 (sic) in Wolterdingen, Saltau, Germany, and was baptized soon thereafter. At the age of four years he lost both parents. He came to the United States in 1882 and lived in Nemaha County, Neb. Here he received instruction in the doctrines of the Christian faith and was confirmed on April 8, 1888, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hickory Grove, Neb. He moved to the Bryon area in 1893. In 1913 (sic) he married Marie (nee) Gebers, and this union was blessed with the births of three children. His wife passed away in 1918. In January, 1927, he married Anna Hobelmann. They moved to the town of Byron in 1914. He had been a former member of St. John Lutheran Church, Byron, and a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Byron, for many year. Dick had been in failing health for seven years and died August 15, 1964, he had attained the age of 90 years, 2 months and 24 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Albert, who died in infancy, a brother, William a sister and another brother who died in Germany. He is survived by; his wife, Anna, two daughters, Esther (Mrs. Rudolph Marquart) of Byron, and Marie (Mrs. Edward Duensing of Hebron; two step-sons, Albert Hobelmann of Deshler, and Harold Hobelmann of Bryon; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Luhrs of Byron, 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. t Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John E. Sitler at 2:00 p.m,. Wednesday, August 19, 1964, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Byron . Interment waff made m St. Paul Cemetery, Byron, Neb.
