Doug Tiffany to officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. D. Dick Kennedy Jr., son of D. Dick and Dora Bell Turpin Kennedy, was born Nov. 28, 1931 on a farm south of Webster City. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. While in high school, he was active in basketball, and was a 4-year starter in football, On June 16, 1951, he married Ruth M. Bock at Riverside Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. He served with the Iowa National Guard from 1950 to 1956. He had been employed at Beam's, worked as a pllumber and drove school bus for the Webster City School System. He served on the Webster City Police force for 29 years, retiring in 1987 at the rank of captain. He then worked at City Hall as a custodian until 1994. While on the police force, Dick received numerous citation for valor from his involvement in the arrests of armed suspects where shots were exchanged, and the rescue of several people from the downtown fire at the former Brin's Furniture Store. Mrs. Kennedy died January 9, 2001. Mr. Kennedy is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Deb & Pat Tate, Webster City, Renee & Jeff Dubberke of Hubbard; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken & Joan Kennedy, Dick & Rosine Kennedy, all of Webster City; grandchildren, Ryan & Sara Tate, Tenile & Greg Rogers, Chad & Darci Tate, Jenae, Joel and Karissa Kenndey, Justin, Colleen & Caleb Kennedy, Chelsa & Angela Dubberke; great-granddaughter, Kennedi Rogers; sisters Grace McIntyre of Webter City, Bonnie Schamel of Allison; severa nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Dick is prceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Dickie Desn Kennedy; sisters, Sylvia Olmstead, Ruth Balsley and Mary Beem; a brother, Howard Kennedy in infancy. Dick enjoyd camping, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities and taking each grandchild on a special trip to Colorado. He loved to do things for others.
