Description	:	Dirk B. Tjarks was born in Stedesdorf, Ostfiresland, Germany the son of Jan Jacob and Tiadke Margareta Arends Tjarks. He came to the United States in 1865 arriving at Castle Garden in New York on November 29th. Then traveling to Peoria, Illinois. Here on August 29, 1868 he was married to Anna Margaretha Janssen. They would become the parents of 10 children of which only three would survive to adulthood. In 1885 he moved with his family to Inland township, Clay county, Nebraska, to an 80 acre farm 2 1/2 miles northeast of Glenvil.	Dirk B.
