Van Dyk had passed away during the night at the home of her son, Walter, here in Hull. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Protestant Reformed church, conducted by Rev. Hanko in the Dutch, and Rev. VanDyk Died Very Suddenly Saturday Morning Friends and relatives alike were shocked last Saturday morning when it was discovered that Mrs. D. Van Dyk had passed away during the night at the home of her son, Walter, here in Hull. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Protestant Reformed church, conducted by Rev. Hanko in the Dutch, and Rev. Haan in the English language. Burial was made in Hope Cemetery beside the remains of her husband, who preceded her in death twelve years ago. Dirkje Post was born May 8, 1858, in Kampan [sic], Overijeel, the Netherlands. On May 3, 1877 [sic] she was united in marriage to Mr. Dries Van Dyk. They came to America in March, 1893, settling in Sioux County where they resided until their death. Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. VanDyk, seven in the Old Country and four in America. Eight of them survive their parents, and are: Mrs. Peter Mouw, Walter, Mrs. Tunis Jansma, Mrs. John Schaap, Mrs. John Westra, John, Dick and Dries Van Dyk. There are also forty-three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Van Dyk died October 14, 1921. The Index joins in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
