Description	:	Minnie Westra, daughter of Djereke [?] Postma and Dries VanDyke, was born March 31, 1889 at Kampen, Netherlands. She was brought to Sioux County, Iowa as a baby and she grew up there. After her marriage to John Westra at Hull, Iowa on October 18 1910, they farmed in Northwest Iowa until moving to Sioux Falls in 1935. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary before his death in 1971. Westra, Jefferson, Iowa, Andrew, Aberdeen, South Dakota, John E. , Centerville, South Dakota; 4 daughters: Mrs. Dora Heinsma, Lakewood, Calif., Mrs. Clifford (Henrietta) Madland, Sioux Falls, So. Dak., Mrs. Alfred (Nellie) Westra, Sioux Falls, So. Dak., Mrs. Don (Marjorie) Vander Pol, Garden Grove, Calif.; 31 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: John Van Dyke, Sioux Falls, So. Dak., Andrew VanDyke, Pipestone, Minnesota and a host of other relatives and friends. Also preceding in death were 3 sisters: Nellie, Jane and Jennie; 2 brothers: Walter and Dick; and 2 grandsons, David and Charles Westra. Interment was in Hope Cemetery in Hull, Iowa. Lunch was served after the interment, at the Lou Van Batavia home. Sioux County Index 1974-05-02.
