McChane Here Monday Death Followed Long Illness; Funeral Services Held Here Today Mrs. John McChane succumbed to death Monday evening at 6 o’clock at her home east of La Porte City in Spring Creek township after a lingering illness. Death, due to carcinoma, occurred on her 62nd birthday and terminated a year and a half of failing health and 15 weeks of confinement to bed. She was born Dolly Fern Good, second daughter of Cicero and Catherine Good, on a farm in Black Hawk county, east of La Porte City on June 25, 1889. All of her life was spent in the surrounding community. On February 24, 1909 she married John McChange at Brandon. He survives, as does one daughter, Mrs. Harold Chambers and two grandchildren, Ross and Kathy Chambers of Rapid City, S. Dak and two sisters, Mrs. Roy Finely of Waterloo and Mrs. Pete Dixon of La Porte City. she is also survived by nieces and nephews. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. McChane was a member of the W.S.C.S. of the Methodist church. Services Today Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Johannsen Funeral home in charge of Rev. Oliver Jensen of the Methodist church and Rev. R.D. Heilborn of the Emmanuel Wesleyan Methodist church. Cliff Burr, accompanied by Mrs. Burr at the organ, sang “In the Garden” and “Goin Home.” Pallbearers were LeRoy Arp, Floyd Purdy, Dale Stephans, Ernest Brandt, Robert Buck and Oda Otto. Burial was made in West View cemetery.
