Description	:	Don was the first-born child of Otis Allan and Ann Charlotte Petermeier Dodd. Maternal grandparents were Frederick and Caroline Schnathorst Petermeier of Malaka Township, Jasper County, Iowa. Paternal grandparents were Mark and Harriett Baker Dodd of Burnett County, Wisconsin. His was a home birth, assisted by Otis' first cousin, Cloe Dodd Schaefer, who was a nurse. The baby was strangled by his own umbilical cord.
