Description	:	Dona Rene (Epke) Stueckrath, 86 October 27, 1935 ~ January 15, 2022 Dona Rene was born October 27, 1935 in Plainview, Nebraska. She was the second of four girls born to Bertha and August Epke, Jr. and grew up on the family farm just outside of town. Dona met Roger, the love of her life, while attending high school in Plainview. They married in 1955 and spent over 65 years together. Read More	Dona Rene (Epke) Stueckrath, 86 October 27, 1935 ~ January 15, 2022 Dona Rene was born October 27, 1935 in Plainview, Nebraska. She was the second of four girls born to Bertha and August Epke, Jr. and grew up on the family farm just outside of town. Dona met Roger, the love of her life, while attending high school in Plainview. They married in 1955 and spent over 65 years together. They had four children while living in Norfolk, Lincoln and Omaha, and met many great friends along the way. They enjoyed spending time with all of their extended family and attending their grandchildren's various events. Dona was a great listener, soft-spoken and as many have said, the nicest person you would ever know. Dona Rene Stueckrath passed away January 15, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger, and their son Todd. She leaves behind three children and seven grandchildren, Terry and Lori Stueckrath, Kristi and Todd Johnson, Kari and Paul Nelson, Dillon, Hunter, Hallie, Emily, Claire, Emma and Gretchen. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30am Saturday, January 22nd, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millard, with a burial immediately following. Memorials can be sent to Literacy For All, Omaha. Burial Evergreen Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska. It has been a long time since I had any interaction with Dona Rene. It would have been way back when Auggie and Bertha lived on the farm just east of Plainview along highway 20. I remember the big white farmhouse and the goldfish in the water tank. Then there was the old crank telephone and the record player in the living room that I found fascinating. There was the duck pond on the west side of the trees, west of the house. In my genealogy file I found a picture which I am sharing of Dona Rene as I remember her. --Alan Moeller Son of Roy and Catherine Moeller Grandson of Anna Meyer Moeller who for a few years raised both her son Leo and her sister Bertha Meyer Epke Dona & Roger were very kind and compassionate toward our neediest neighbors experiencing homelessness and poverty, We are thankful for their friendship and legacy! We're praying for comfort for your family! --Open Door Mission Dona Rene and her sisters were special cousins that I did not get to see as much as I would have liked not only in childhood, but in our adult years. As Alan Moeller mentioned visiting the large farmhouse near Plainview, I also have memories of a home where people laughed, played cards and shared stories. The house and grounds were larger and more interesting than my little farmhouse, and the concept of four sisters was enticing for me with two much older brothers and no sisters. Uncle Augie referred to himself as a "card shark" and Aunt Bertha often joked and teased my father, Paul.
