Sunday, when two cars collided, due to the high wind and blowing dust, causing poor visibility. Occupants of the two cars were Robert Kraft, Donald Kraft, Def. Zerr, Edwin Brungardt, Norbert Kaiser, Alfred Waldman, Junior Heier, Adam Heier, Delmar Waldman and Linus Waldman. None of the boys were seriously injured except the two Kraft boys. Donald received a punctured lung and other internal injuries. Immediately following the accident they boys were rushed to the hospital in Quinter where they received treatment. The two cars, a 1949 Mercury and a 1954 Chevrolet were badly smashed. Grinnell Record-Leader, Thursday, September 23, 1954 Services For Donald Kraft Last Thursday Funeral services for Donald Kraft were conducted Thursday morning, September 16, from the Sacred Hearts Church at Park, Kansas, with the Rev. M. J. Hogan officiating. Donald Bernard Kraft was born December 10, 1943 and departed this life Tuesday morning, September 14, 1954 at the Gove County Hospital in Quinter, from injuries received in an automobile accident on Sunday afternoon. Donnie, as he was known by all, would have been eleven years old this December and was a member of the sixth grade class at the Park Grade School. He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Kraft, one brother, Robert, and two sisters, Kathleen and Donna, of the immediate family, and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant brother Ronnie. Casket bearers were Gale Schlageck, Donald Mense, Rodney Mense, Walter Hein, Alex Kraft and Larry Muehlenkamp. Honorary bearers were members of the sixth grade class: Ronnie Fahey, Billie Goetz, Edwin Brungardt, Ronnie Wagoner, Marvin Werth, Laverne Wildeman, Harvey Wildeman and Eddie Leiker. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Park.
