Sams, 45, former city councilman and farm implement dealer in Hillsboro died Wednesday at 1:30 P.M. at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana where he had been confined for three weeks. Death was attributed to a malignancy. He had been ill for several months. He was born in Rainsboro on June 17, 1915, the son of Norval N. and Madge Cameron Sams. He had resided in this area most of his life. He graduated from Jamestown High School and later attended Miami University, Oxford. He joined his father in the operation of the N. N. Sams & Son farm implement business on Short Street here when it opened in 1935. He remained with the firm 21 years until 1956, when it was sold. Following that he became a manufacturer's representative for a Cleveland firm, Perfection Industries, and others; traveling Ohio and Indiana. He served three terms as city councilman here, 1954-55, 1956-57, and 1958-1959. He was a past president of the Hillsboro Rotary Club. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Highland County Shrine Club, Syrian Shrine, Cincinnati, and Hillsboro Elks Lodge. He was a past deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro. Besides his parents, he is survived by one son, Donald Jr., New Mexico Military Academy; one daughter, Carolyn; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Towle of Urbana and Mrs. E. H. Wilson, Jr., of San Francisco, California. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Montgomery officiating and burial following in Hillsboro Cemetery.
