(Kort) Johnson Hastings resident Donald Charles "Don" Johnson, 71, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Mr Johnson was born Dec 7, 1928 to John C and Marie A (Kort) Johnson in Blue Hill. He graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1946. On Sept 12, 1948, he married Wilma Maruska in Blue Hill. He worked in the grocery business with Swift and Co and O P Skaggs. He worked for the Keebler Co for 25 years and retired. In 1983 his wife died. On May 25, 1984, he married Ruth (Graver) Bowlds in Hastings. They spent four years building churches and houses throughout the country with Laborers for Christ. He returned to Hastings where he worked part time at Allen's of Hastings and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Tom of Lincoln and Gregg of Kearney; three stepsons, Dan Bowlds of Laurel, Md., and Steve Bowlds and Brad Bowlds, both of Lexington, Ky.; one daughter Terri Wickham of Hastings; two stepdaughters, Allison Hale of Lexington, Ky and Andria Blankenship of Fort Myers, Fla.; two brothers, Burdett of Hastings and Glen of Lincoln; and 24 grandchildren. The family request no flowers. Memorials may be given to Laborers for Christ or the Student Fund for full-time church services at Concordia Colleges Hastings Tribune July 12, 2000
