Description	:	Don Clair Holmes was born in Sherman County on a farm near Hazard on September 13, 1884, and passed away at the Masonic hospital at Plattsmouth on July 9, 1946, at the age of 61 years, 9 months and 21 days. He spent his early life on a farm with his parents near Hazard and Ravenna. He was united with the Methodist church at Wiggle Creek in early manhood. Read More	Don Clair Holmes was born in Sherman County on a farm near Hazard on September 13, 1884, and passed away at the Masonic hospital at Plattsmouth on July 9, 1946, at the age of 61 years, 9 months and 21 days. He spent his early life on a farm with his parents near Hazard and Ravenna. He was united with the Methodist church at Wiggle Creek in early manhood. In later years he transferred his membership to the Methodist church in Loup City. To this union three children were born. Due to his failing health they moved from the farm to Loup City in February 1935 where they made their home for several years. On June 9, 1946, he entered the Masonic hospital at Plattsmouth where he remained until his death. He is survived by his wife; one son, Ivan, of Ellensburg, Wash.; two daughters, Laura Bridges of Hazard and Eleanor Wever of Chicago; six grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, Lisle of Taylor, Robert of El Cajon, Calif., Madge Crabb of Fleming, Colo., and Fannie Wilkinson of Valentine, and many friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor in 1918, a brother who died in infancy, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Holmes. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Loup City Saturday afternoon, July 13, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Grier Hunt. Pallbearers were Tom McKeon, Pete McKeon, Fred Moomey, Ray Wever, Edwin Denton, and Wilber Curry. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery. Sherman County Times, Loup City, NE - July 1946
