Description	:	Donald Dean Dodson, age 71 of Prosser, entered into rest on November 3, 2010 at his home in Prosser. He was born on February 24, 1939 in Pawnee City, Neb. to Ray William and Mittie Marie (Lantz) Dodson. Don was eight when the family moved to Prosser in 1947 and he graduated from Prosser High School with the Class of 1956. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Read More	Donald Dean Dodson, age 71 of Prosser, entered into rest on November 3, 2010 at his home in Prosser. He was born on February 24, 1939 in Pawnee City, Neb. to Ray William and Mittie Marie (Lantz) Dodson. Don was eight when the family moved to Prosser in 1947 and he graduated from Prosser High School with the Class of 1956. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While visiting his sister in-law in California he met Phyllis Ozene Gattenby. Don and Ozene were married on Feb. 9, 1960 in California. The couple made Prosser their home in 1961 and started their family. Through his working years, Don was acquainted with many farmers and worked as a farm hand and equipment operator for Bud Burkholder, Glen Herbert and Bud Mercer. He also worked for the Western Farmer's Store, Hall Chevrolet as a mechanic and later as the service manager and owned and operated Don's Mobile Station in Prosser. For the past nineteen and a half years, Don worked for St. Michelle Winery as an equipment operator until he became disabled in December 2009. Don loved dirt and farming but also had many other interests. He became a pilot and owned an airplane, loved camping, deer and elk hunting, owned horses, became a weekend cowboy and enjoyed many rodeos. He aspired to be a cattle baron with two Black Angus calves! Most recently, he restored an antique tractor which he wanted to drive in the States Day Parade this year but was unable. He was a devoted family man, husband, father and grandfather, had many friends and touched the lives of all who knew him with his sincere kindness. He will be deeply missed. Don is survived by his wife Ozene Dodson of Prosser; his son, Raymond William Dodson of Prosser, his daughter, Denise Marie Voegele and her husband, Steven of Grandview; six grandchildren, Emily Rae Dodson of Spokane, Malorie Burmood of Prosser, Tyler Dodson of Prosser, Hannah K.Voegele of Grandview, Brendyn Dodson and Brightyn Dodson, both of Yamhill, OR; one great granddaughter, Sophia Ozene Miller of Spokane; his sisters, Helen McMillen and her husband, Ed of Kennewick and Jane Vanden Boush of Fort Worth, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald, Wayne and Dale; sisters, Margarite Brewin and Jean Walen. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 1:20 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Prosser. Visitation will be held at Prosser Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov 10, from 10:00am until 7:00p.m.. Private family inurnment will be in the Prosser Cemetery.
