Description	:	Donald Dean Hennings, 75, passed away Saturday April 23rd in Plano Texas. He was born on a snowy November 12th 1940 in Waterloo Iowa to Robert Carl Hennings and Verona (Poock) Hennings. He was baptized as an infant at St. John's Lutheran Church and confirmed in 1955 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He was born on a snowy November 12th 1940 in Waterloo Iowa to Robert Carl Hennings and Verona (Poock) Hennings. He was baptized as an infant at St. John's Lutheran Church and confirmed in 1955 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Don graduated from Denver High School in 1959 and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City as well as the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. He graduated from UNI with a degree in Accounting on June 4th 1965. He married Barbara Ann (Dietz) on June 6th 1965. Don began employment with Price Waterhouse accounting firm in Chicago IL in July of 1965. He then worked at Waterloo Corrugated Box for a short time prior to nearly 10 years of employment in the data processing department at UNI. Don then worked as a Systems Analyst for John Deere in Waterloo IA from 1976 until 1983. From 1983 until his retirement in 2006, Don worked as a Systems Analyst at Texas Instruments first in Lubbock, TX and finally in Dallas, TX. As a "night and weekend job", Don farmed in Cedar Falls IA from 1971 until 1983 and then in Olton TX from 1983 until 1990. Farming was in his blood and after he retired he would return to Iowa to help his brother-in-law during the planting and harvest season. Don was a lifelong church member and regular church attendee wherever he resided. He and Barb were proud members of First United Methodist Church in Frisco TX at the time of his death. Don enjoyed travelling and after retirement he and Barb travelled regularly with friends. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to visit them, and attending many of their extracurricular activities. Don was a hard worker and lead by example at work and in the home. He was selfless and was never too busy to help one in need. Don was a devoted husband and a loving father, and he will be missed by all who knew him. Don is survived by Barb, his wife of 50 years, two sons Brian (Dara) Hennings of College Station TX and Brent (Debbie) Hennings of Kingwood TX; his brother Allen Hennings of Denver IA, his sister Coleen Boyce of Waterloo IA, five grandchildren Ellen, Dean, Claire, Nicholas, and Andrew Hennings, and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his daughter Vickie, his brother Rodney, his parents Robert and Verona, and his sister-in-law Pat Hennings. Visitation will be at Kaiser Corson funeral home in Denver on Sunday May 1st from 5-7 PM. The funeral service will be held 10 AM Monday May 2nd at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Denver followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery Denver IA.
