Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m., at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Christ United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ed Bigler III officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Fleming Cemetery. Don was born Sept. 11, 1933, to parents, Samuel Langdon and Anna (Davis) Langdon in Fleming. He grew up and lived most of his life just outside Fleming, moving to Sterling in September 2012. Don attended school in Fleming and graduated from Fleming High School in 1951. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and did his basic training in Fort Reilly, Kan., then spent the remainder of his army service in Fort Hood, Texas, before returning to Fleming to build his life. He always said he should have received foreign duty pay because Fort Hood was such a distance from everywhere else. Don married BJ Knode on Sept. 18, 1960. He lived and worked all his life as a farmer and rancher, as well as for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, Logan County Hospital and Great Western Sugar Beet Factory. He also served one term as Logan County Commissioner from 1980-1984. Don had a great love of music, having played guitar since he was a teenager. He found pleasure not only in singing and playing, but in listening to his children and grandchildren perform. Don was a rancher at heart, finding enjoyment in working with his cattle and especially his horses. Although not formally trained in engineering or architecture, Don enjoyed creating things from his own plans and was a perfectionist in his work, having built both the family home in Fleming, their mountain home in Glacier View, as well as many trailers. Don was a member of the Fleming Saddle Club for many years and enjoyed taking his family on trail rides. He was also a member of the Fleming Men's Club, Logan County Sheriff's Posse, Christ United Methodist Church, and Methodist Men's Clubs. Don inherited the ranch that was homesteaded by his grandmother, Mary (Hradecky) Davis, and he was honored in 2009 as a Centennial Ranch owner for the ranch being in the same family for more than 100 years. Don is survived by his wife, BJ; children, Brent Langdon and wife Melanie of Greeley, Cherri Jo Ramirez and husband Joe of Fort Collins, and Darla Busboom and husband Jeff of Douglas, Wyo.; six grandchildren, Jamie and Eric Langdon of Greeley, Mando and Rica Ramirez of Fort Collins, Jacy and Carly Busboom of Douglas, Wyo.; a great-grandchild, Kinsey McArthur; and a sister, Doloros Yates and husband Howard of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Anna; and two brothers, Wayne and Robert. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church. Journal-Advocate February 2, 2013
