Don... Read More	LAUENSTEIN, DONALD DEAN—Donald Dean Lauenstein was born to Edward C. Lauenstein and Alma E. Lentfer on October 2, 1937, at Geneva, and passed away on November 17, 1982, at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva at the age of 45 years 1 month and 15 days. He was one of five children in the family. Don spent his entire life in the Fillmore county area on the family farm, except for the two years he went in the United States Army in Germany and for a period of about six months when he loved in Shickley. Don was baptized and confirmed as a child in the Lutheran faith. He attended school at District 48 and also the Grace Lutheran School and the Shickley public school. Don’s life occupation was that of farming. He dearly loved and cherished the family farm on which he was raised and spent his life working. He also assisted Bill Kleinschmidt in his farming operation. He was married to Mary Catherine Kamler of Shickley on August 20, 1963, and to them one son, Anthony Donald, was born. Don was a quiet man, whose happiest hours were spent working his father’s farm, being with his family and helping others. He was a good husband and father. He enjoyed attending ball games, especially watching his son play, of whom he was very proud. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and he faced his illness with courage and patience, never fearing his coming death. The family will miss his presence. Don was preceded in death by his father, Edward C. Lauenstein; grandparents, Henry and Emma Lentfer and William and Elizabeth Lauenstein; a niece, Suzanne Schmidt and by aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Mary and son, Tony, of Geneva; his mother, Alma Lauenstein of Geneva; brothers, Clarence of Ogden, Ut., Harold of Columbus and Robert of Bruning; sister Mrs. Ruben (Elaine) Schmidt of Wonewoc, Wi.; and by two uncles and one aunt. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer and Son funeral home in Geneva on Saturday, November 20, with the Rev. Paul Dobberstein officiating. Mrs. Bill Kleinschmidt accompanied Curtis Prater who sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “O Paradise.” Pallbearers were Wayne Gergen, Don Jacque, Robert Grote, Eugene Dondlinger, Dan and Ken Lauenstein.
