He was born June 19, 1921 in Clay County, KS the son of Louis and Katherine (Dagan) Wehmhoff. Don was raised and attended school in Clay County. He served in the US Army during WWII in Europe. Don married Lucille Stewart on October 31, 1942. Following the war, he returned to the Clay Center area and they farmed and raised livestock for 26 years. In 1972, Don and Lucille became real estate managers in Colorado, Utah and Arizona. The returned to Clay Center in 1984 and Don worked as a crop insurance adjuster. Lucille preceded him in death on February 2, 1996. He later married Marie (Stroade) Blake on August 3, 1997. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2005. Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served in the Farmers CO-OP Board of Directors. Survivors: Daughter: Donice and husband Dennis Rothfuss, Winston Salem, NC 2 Granddaughters A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23 at the First Presbyterian Church, Clay Center. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, with military honors. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Leisure Center in care of Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 7th St., Clay Center, KS 67432.
