Description	:	Donald Duane Goering, 89, of Ft. Collins, Colorado (formerly of Sterling) passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Ft. Collins. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 31st at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Collins with Pastor Corey Nelson officiating. Collins, Colorado (formerly of Sterling) passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Ft. Collins. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 31st at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Collins with Pastor Corey Nelson officiating. Don was born in Palmer, Nebraska on July 20, 1927 to Henry and Laura (French) Goering. He was raised in Palmer and graduated from Cushing High School in 1935. He moved to Colorado and settled in Sterling, where he was Manager at Meadow Gold Dairy. It was at Meadow Gold that he met Helen Degenhart, and they were married on August 9, 1955. Together they had four daughters and nine grandchildren. Don is most remembered as the owner of Bluebird Café/Truck stop and Sporting Goods, which he and Helen operated for over 30 years. They were married for 36 years before Helen succumbed to cancer in 1991. After Helens passing, Don married Geraldine (Dollerschell) Breiner on November 23, 1997 in Sterling. Geraldine passed away after a long illness on October 20, 2001. He later married Ada (Mickelson) Pederson of St. Paul, Nebraska on September 13, 2008. They moved to Ft. Collins where they made their home and enjoyed travelling until Adas passing on June 29, 2016. Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a lifelong member of the Sterling Elks Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing with his long-time friends and sons-in-law. He also enjoyed travelling, playing cards, watching Bronco football and Rockies baseball, and sharing hunting stories with his family. Don is survived by his four daughters and families, Jim and Sandy Fuller of Sheridan, WY, Sherri Goering of Loveland, CO, Jim and Cindy Vandenbark of Fleming, CO, and Don and Wendy Dudley of Sterling, CO; Stepchildren and spouses, Rick and Marjean Pedersen of Thornton, CO, Nick Pedersen and Susie Wolfert of St. Paul, NE, and Christine and Brent Higgins of St. Petersburg, FL. Grandchildren Stephanie Ellis of Sheridan, WY, Kristin Herbst and husband Zach of Sheridan, WY, Chad Birgenheier and wife Annie of Greeley, CO, Zach Wilcox and wife Jessica of Phoenix, AZ, Dan Vandenbark of Los Angeles, CA, Carla Bornhoft and husband Jerry of Sterling, CO, Kara Dudley of Sterling, CO, Hailey Dudley of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Greyson Dudley of Sterling, CO. Don is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wives (Helen, Geraldine, and Ada), and siblings Delores Anderson, Merlin Goering, and Darold Goering.
