He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age and was confirmed in the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City. He graduated from Laurens High School in 1969. His career in Production Credit Association started the following... Read More	Don was born on March 28, 1951, to Arnold and Mary Wenell and grew up on a farm in Laurens. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age and was confirmed in the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City. He graduated from Laurens High School in 1969. While attending Iowa State University in Ames, he met and married his wonderful wife Cindy Armstrong on Aug. 28, 1971. He graduated from Iowa Sate University in Agriculture Education in 1973, after which he taught high school in Estherville for one year. His career in Production Credit Association started the following year when he became Branch Manager in Pocahontas, followed by his years as Branch Manager in Rockwell City. He was then promoted to the position of President of Production Credit Association in Grand Island, Neb., in 1982. God continued to bless his career when he moved into the position of President of First Bank in Aberdeen, S.D., in 1985. He and his family moved to Fargo, N.D., in 1992 when he became the CEO of Fargo/Moorhead Ag Country. Although Don was blessed in his career, he was even more blessed with his wonderful wife and four children. He loved time with his family only second to the love he had for our Lord. He always looked forward to making wonderful memories with his family and throughout his life he most enjoyed spending time with them at the lake cabin. He and his wife Cindy were regular attendees at Bethel Evangelical Free Church. In his recent years of his battle with cancer, he enjoyed every opportunity to share about God's love and grace in his life, God's blessings, and God's miraculous ways. Don was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Wenell, in 1997. Family and friends enjoyed Don's positive attitude and energetic spirit, and most appreciated him for his unwavering faith. He always had a smile on his face and a word of encouragement for those around him.
