Description	:	Donald Elvin Baker, the son of Walter H. and Pearl G. (Margerum) Baker was born on August 2, 1925 at Petersburg, NE. He attended school in Genoa, NE. While in high school Don was drafted into the service. He entered the United States Navy on December 6, 1943. While on the ship during WWII in 1944, Don received his high school diploma. Read More	Donald Elvin Baker, the son of Walter H. and Pearl G. (Margerum) Baker was born on August 2, 1925 at Petersburg, NE. He attended school in Genoa, NE. While in high school Don was drafted into the service. He entered the United States Navy on December 6, 1943. While on the ship during WWII in 1944, Don received his high school diploma. Don was honorably discharged on March 14, 1946. When returning to Nebraska he attended Nebraska Central Jr. College in Central City, NE. On September 1, 1948 Don was united in marriage to Donna Jean Nelson at her family’s home. The couple lived in St. Edward where they raised their four children. Don was an avid sports fan. From childhood on he took part in all kinds of sports. Don worked for many places and people in the St. Edward area. Don was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather and spending time with his family was the most important thing in life. He also enjoyed attending sporting events, hunting and fishing. Don was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Edward, NE along with the St. Edward Volunteer Fire Department. Don is survived by his wife Donna of St. Edward, NE; four children: Sharon Baker of St. Edward, NE; Connie (Rick) Werts of St. Edward, NE; Janell (Chuck) Micek of Pierce, NE; and David (Gina) Baker of St. Edward, NE; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Gena Churchill; granddaughter-in-law Michele Werts; nine brothers: Wayne, George, Chet, Leonard, Firman, Willis, Kenneth, Melvin, and Darrell Baker; two sisters: Una Mae Mayhew and Dorothy Cannon.
