He was one of a large family two sisters and two brothers are dead. Five sisters and six brothers still survive. the mother passed away in 1935. Don grew to manhood in Central City and attended school there, and on August 18, 1930 was united in marriage to Bertha Halferty. The family moved to Coggon in 1943. Read More	Obit: Services For Donald Sweet Held Sunday p.m. Don Franklin Sweet, son of George F. and Grace Leora Sweet, was born at Central City, Iowa on May 27, 1912. He was one of a large family two sisters and two brothers are dead. Five sisters and six brothers still survive. the mother passed away in 1935. Don grew to manhood in Central City and attended school there, and on August 18, 1930 was united in marriage to Bertha Halferty. The family moved to Coggon in 1943. Don was a veteran of World War II and spent two years overseas in the Pacific war zone. His untimely death has left a lonely home and much sadness in his family. His wife and four children are Mrs. Hal Haines of Cedar Rapids; Donna, Jerry, and Lonnie at home. One grandson born recently to the daughter Mrs. Haines, is Lynn Charles. Recently Don had been employed at Cedar Rapids. He was a member of Coggon Post No. 362 American Legion. The Legion conducted graveside services at the cemetery. For a number of years Don has been a member of the Coggon Methodist church, as has his family. He was well liked by many people and his sudden death was a shock to all. Usually smiling and of a generous nature, it was easy for him to make friends. We are all sorry at his passing. funeral services were held from the Coggon Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Harry D. Green in charge, assisted by the Rev. Koert Smith, pastor of the local Christian church. Interment was made in the Central City cemetery. Besides his wife and family, he is survived by six brothers, George of Marion; William, Marston, Douglas , and Dorrence of Cedar Rapids; Darwin of Ruthland, Illinois; five sisters, Jennie Bishop, Fleeta Hintz, Zelda Ziethamel, Yvonne Fisher and Marita Parsons, all of Cedar Rapids.
