Funeral mass will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father Denis Meier officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Donald Harry Hauck, Sr. was born on April 9, 1932 to Harry and Mary (Roesch) Hauck in Tolstoy, South Dakota. He attended elementary school in Tolstoy and graduated from Hoven High School in 1950. He then attended Gale Institute at Minneapolis, Minnesota where he worked for the Great Northern Railroad for a short time and joined the United States Air Force in 1951. On June 4, 1952 he married Rosemary Kaiser in Rapid City, South Dakota. During Don's military career, he was stationed at Scott AFB, IL, Fort Bragg, NC, Greenville, SC, Goosebay, Labrador, and was honorably discharged at McClellan AFB, CA in 1955. Don and Rosemary returned to South Dakota and Don was employed by Northwestern Bell in 1955 at Rapid City, Gettysburg, Sioux Falls and Watertown until he retired in 1986. After several part time jobs, Don was employed by Underwriters Laboratory as a Field Rep. from 1991-2004. Rosemary Hauck passed away on March 26, 2007. Don married Janet Keenan on May 30, 2008 in Sioux Falls, SD. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church Watertown, where he served as Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Men's Polka Choir. He was a charter member of the Watertown Barbershop Chorus and Optimist Club in Watertown, and a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge 838 and Quarterback Club in Watertown. While living in Gettysburg, Don was the post commander of the American Legion. Don also served in the 1742nd Transportation Company in the South Dakota Army National Guard. He was an avid polka fan and enjoyed playing the accordion. His hobbies included fishing, boating, golfing and gardening. Don is survived by his wife, Janet Keenan-Hauck of Watertown, SD; his children, Joseph (Marla) Hauck, Steven (Carletta) Hauck, Donald (Lois) Hauck, Jr. of Watertown, SD, and Charles Hauck of Colton, SD; his son-in-law, Robert Leidholdt of Conde, SD; two stepdaughters, Dawn (Alan) Lautwein and Linda (Dan) Guenther of Sioux Falls, SD; one brother, Jerry (Roleen) Hauck of Gettysburg, SD; two sisters-in-law, Leona Kaiser of Hoven, SD, and Teresa Kaiser of Rapid City, SD; 14 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rosemary; his daughter, Kathy Leidholdt; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Christian; step great-grandson, Maddox Churchill;his nephew, Russell Hauck; and his niece, Lisa Hauck. - Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel
