Donald was born April 4, 1932 in Lafayette County, Missouri, the son of George and Pauline (Hudson) Hambrick. He attended Brown Country School and Dover Elementary School. On April 9, 1955 he married Betty Jane Jordan in Waverly, Missouri. She survives at the home. Donald was a towboat captain on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 in Carrollton and the American Legion Post #580. He was also a member of Local Union 101. Donald is also survived by two children, Teresa Hamblen, Waverly, Missouri; Donald E. "Donnie" Hambrick, Carrollton, Missouri; one brother, Bill Hambrick, Richmond, Missouri; one sister, Wilma Butler, Dover, Missouri; five grandchildren, Chad Hamblen, Waverly, Missouri; Scott Hamblen, Dover, Missouri; Tara Fain, Waverly, Missouri; Dusty Hambrick, Carrollton, Missouri; Kelsey Hambrick, Sedalia, Missouri; and two great grandchildren, Kylie Dawn and Lilly Ann Fain. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Norma Gale, sister, Ruth Ann Parks, infant son and infant daughter, nephew, Gary Parks, and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Hambrick Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Grand Pass Cemetery, Grand Pass, Missouri. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2009 at Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to Cross Roads Hospice or Disabled Veterans in memory of Donald. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
