Donald Gardner, age 75, of Odebolt, IA, passed away on January 30, 1999, while vacationing at Apache Junction, AZ. He had been a resident of Odebolt since 1985. Before that, he had lived in the Des Moines area and was employed at Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. since 1951. In his retirement years, he worked part-time at the Sac County Golf and Country Club and later at the Ida Grove Golf Club. The son of Jacob and Edith Gardner, Don was born at White Lake, SD on December 20, 1923. He moved with his family to Odebolt as a child, attended St. Martin's School, and was a member of the Odebolt High School Class of 1943. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Don is survived by his wife Phyllis; three children: Michael of Novato, CA., Timothy Gardner and Cindi Gardner, both of Des Moines; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by a sister, Grace Henrich of Odebolt and one brother, Robert of Nevada, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dale. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
