Don was born on February 18, 1941, in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Robert and Magdelena (Einsenzimmer) Spicer. He attended St. James High School, Grand Forks, ND and received national recognition in the Pillsbury Bake Off his senior year. Don led a simple and honest life and was a talented woodworker. He impacted everyone he met with his ability to say it like it is and create a smile in any situation. In his life, Don was a member of Skirts & Shirts Square Dance Club, the Knights of Columbus, Council 11714, Friday Night Poker Group and active with his church mowing the cemetery, flipping pancakes, or whatever else was needed. Don's perfect day was hitting a casino, enjoying a pizza, playing with his dog and watching TV with Carol while holding her hand across the end table. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol, his children Dean (Stacy) Spicer of Grand Forks, ND, Dale (Jenny) Spicer of Grand Forks, ND, Cathy Spicer of Gaylord, MN, grandchildren Zachary & Jenna Spicer of Grand Forks, ND, siblings Thomas (Marlene) Spicer of Grand Forks, ND, Roberta (Charles) Myers of Jacksonville, FL, Linda Sierra of Longmont, CO and loyal dog Mac. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2005 in St. Jude's Catholic Church, Thompson, ND. Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Tuesday. Burial: St. Jude's Catholic Cemetery, Thompson, ND.
