Description	:	Donald John Petersen was the son of Thomas H. Petersen, Sr. and Anna Maria Paulsen. He married Charlotte Phillips 9 August 1942 in Anthon, Iowa. Obit: Donald J. Petersen, 83, of Mesa, Arizona, was in a Buick turning left out of a McDonald's parking lot onto North Val Vista Drive at East Caballero Street at 1:15 p.m. and was hit in the driver's door by a northbound black Chevrolet SUV, driven by a 35-year-old Gilbert man, police reported. Sharon Livingston of Mesa, one of his daughters, said Petersen, a cancer patient, retired to Arizona from farming and working for an Iowa oil company about 20 years ago. "He was fun-loving. He liked to tell jokes and he always had a good sense of humor," Livingston said. "My dad liked to play golf. He played golf almost every day when he was well enough." He is survived by his wife, Babe, sons Don of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Jim of Mankato, Minnesota; daughter Sharon of Mesa, Arizona; sister Ruth Harbour of Shawnee, Kansas, brother Richard and sister-in-law, Helen Petersen, both of Anthon, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his wife Charlotte (Phillips), brother Thomas II, and daughter Linda. He was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa, beside his wife, Charlotte.
