Donald Lee Johnson was born in Webster City, Iowa, on April 10, 1940, the son of Vernon and Genevieve (Mott) Johnson. Don graduated from Stratford High School in 1959. Donald Lee Johnson was born in Webster City, Iowa, on April 10, 1940, the son of Vernon and Genevieve (Mott) Johnson. Don graduated from Stratford High School in 1959. On April 15, 1961, he married Jane Burke at the Sacred Heart Church in Boone. Don grain farmed in Hamilton and Boone counties and also raised livestock. He later worked as a truck driver for Fareway Stores Inc., retiring in 2002. He was a Farm Bureau member and in earlier years was an auxiliary policeman for the City of Boone. Don enjoyed being on his computer, gardening, and country western music. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dave Johnson. Don is survived by two sons, Tracy (RoseAnn) Johnson of Boone and Troy (Donna Brown) Johnson of Des Moines; a daughter Terri (Robin) Nichols of Dubuque; six grandchildren, Joshua and Casey Nichols, both of Dubuque, Wesley Johnson of Des Moines, and Kyle, Kayla, and Kali Lucas, all of Boone.
