Description	:	Donald Tobiason, 88, of Monticello, died Friday morning, Dec. 24, 2010, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held 11 Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, at Peace United Church of Christ, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Peter Wenzel will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Tuesday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Tobiason was born March 19, 1922, in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa, the son of Hayo and Dora (Stahlberg) Tobiason. Don was baptized at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church on May 19, 1922, and confirmed his faith on May 3, 1936. Don received his education in Wayne Township School No. 5. He started farming with his parents and later worked for a brief time at Sanitary Farm Dairies in Cedar Rapids. Donald married Helen Mardorf on Oct. 5, 1952, at Peace United Church of Christ, Monticello. The couple started farming in Castle Grove Township and then returned to the Tobiason family farm in Wayne Township. He retired from active farming in 1984. Don worked for Asgrow Seed in Anamosa and also helped Ray Nagel and H.W.G. Folkers on their farms. Don also sold Super Cross seed corn for a number of years.
