Description	:	Donald Paul Litke, 87, Council Grove, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017. He was born Jan. 22, 1930, in rural southeast Wabaunsee County, the son of Thomas and Faye Newcomb Litke. Don married Lucille Williams on Jan. 22, 1950, in Council Grove. They were married for 52 years and had four sons together. On Oct. 14, 2003 Don married Candace Boardman, and she survives him. Don married Lucille Williams on Jan. 22, 1950, in Council Grove. They were married for 52 years and had four sons together. On Oct. 14, 2003 Don married Candace Boardman, and she survives him. Don was a hard workingman--a lifelong farmer and stockman. He also owned Litke Trucking and drove for Neosho Construction in Council Grove. He worked for Black Diamond Feeders in Delavan for nine years and Council Grove Senior Center for 15 years. During the 1980s, he was a member of the board of directors of Council Grove National Bank. He loved growing flowers, hunting turkeys, attending auctions, carving Flint Hills stone, and all things John Deere--especially his 4020s. In addition to his wife Candy, Don is survived by sons, Darrell Litke and wife Kathy Hunter Litke, Council Grove: Byron Litke and wife Sheila Spittles Litke, Lewellen, NE; Bruce Litke and wife Shelia Miller Litke, Council Grove, and Jeff Litke and wife Marsh Jones Litke, Council Grove. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Dara (Jason) Fillmore,Dana (Bobby) Reddick,Shilo (Tim) King, Justin Litke, Deanna (Thomas) Buttrey, Lacie (Kerry) Kasten, Daen (Lucas) Palmquist, Neil Litke (finance Taylor Kraus), Nathan (Dani) Litke, Desiree (Tyler) Yadon, Nolan Litke, and Tucker Litke. Don is also survived by two step-children: Kian Fatemi, Portland OR, and Melanie Fatemi and partner Jonathan Troll, Yardley, PA, and two step-grandchildren, Scarlett Fatemi and Gabriel Fatemi Don is survived by 29 great grand-children: Derron (finance Keeley Young) Reddick, Logan (Mwlissa) Litke, Braden Reddick, Treyse King, Breah Fillmore, Blane Fillmore, Lauren Reddick, Brodey King, Daleyna King,Sanaia King, Autumn Waters, Brycen Palmquist, Hayden Buttrey, Kaedyn Litke, Wyatt Litke, Kolter Litke, Reid Buttrey, Lucille Pamnquist, Charlee Chaney, Cutler Kasten, Hadlee Litke, Mia Waters, Isabella Clift, Marlei Litke, Paislee Yadon, Rhett Litke, and Maverick Waters, and one great-great-grandson Brentley Litke. Don is also survived by sisters, Naomi Moran of Topeka; Ruth (Rex) Newcom of Newton; Norma (Ken) Stringer of Whitewater; and by brother Ton (Diane) Litke of Abilene. Don was preceeded in death by his parents, wife Lucille, sister Vera Younggren, parents-in-law, Neil and Jessie Burnett Williams, and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Moran Leroy Younggren and Leland Dains. A celebration of life will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Flint Hills Apostolic Church, 102 S. 9th Street, Council Grove. an inurnment will follow the celebration at Sunnyslope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Council Grove Senior Center, for which Don worked as a bus driver for 15 years, and the Flint Hills Apostolic Church--which Don's Father helped establish and of which Don was a lifetime member.
