Read More	CLARKSVILLE — Donald Ralph Frerichs, 89, of Clarksville, died Saturday, Feb. 11, at Clarksville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of natural causes. He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in rural Butler County, son of Ralph and Alice Folkers Frerichs. He married Marilyn Lindner on July 8, 1951, at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. Don attended school in rural Butler County. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II. He worked at Schmadeke Feed Mill, took over his dad's corn shelling business, later worked for Niehaus Welding for several years and in 1973 went to work for Butler County road maintenance. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. Survived by: his wife; two sons, Steve (Sharon), and Chris (Kathy) Frerichs; a daughter, Mary Sue (special friend Tom Kirchhoff) Rieger; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Hamilton. Preceded in death by: his parents; three sisters, Ruth Lubben, Charlotte Wyatt and Dorothy Hummel; and a brother, Paul Frerichs. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. John Lutheran Church, Clarksville. Visitation will be for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville is in charge of arrangements. Waterloo Courier∼Donald Ralph Frerichs, age 89, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Ralph and Alice (Folkers) Frerichs on September 26, 1927, in rural Butler County. Don attended school in rural Butler County. Don lived in his entire life in Clarksville. Don enlisted into the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre on the USS Holland during World War II. After Don returned from serving in the Navy, he worked at Schmadeke Feed Mill On July 8, 1951, Don was united in marriage with Marilyn Lindner at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. Don took over his dad's corn shelling business and later went to work for Niehaus Welding for several years. In 1973, Don went to work for Butler County road maintenance. Don was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville where he served on the church council. He also played on the church's dartball team. Don was a charter member of the Clarksville AMVETS. He loved to fish and play cards. Don and Marilyn enjoyed doing stained glass together. Don died Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Clarksville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville of natural causes. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ruth Lubben, Charlotte Wyatt and Dorothy Hummel; one brother, Paul Frerichs; five brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn; two sons, Steve (Sharon) Frerichs of Clarksville, and Chris (Kathy) Frerichs of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one daughter, Mary Sue (special friend, Tom Kirchhoff) Rieger of Cedar Falls, Iowa; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Pearl Hamilton of Clarksville; one brother-in-law, Lew (Sheryl) Lindner of Clarksville and one sister-in-law, Nancy (Mark) Ringleg of Clarksville. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. John Lutheran Church, Clarksville. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville.
