Description	:	Donald R. "Don" Rich, 69, a 60-year Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 20, 2000 at Parkside Care Center. He was born Feb. 23, 1931 in Wenatchee to Roy L. and Clara A. (Feil) Rich. As a child, the family moved to Hillsboro, OR where he was raised and received his early education. They returned to Wenatchee in the mid 1940s where Don completed high school, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 1949. He continued his education at Wenatchee Valley College. "Don" Rich, 69, a 60-year Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 20, 2000 at Parkside Care Center. He was born Feb. 23, 1931 in Wenatchee to Roy L. and Clara A. (Feil) Rich. As a child, the family moved to Hillsboro, OR where he was raised and received his early education. They returned to Wenatchee in the mid 1940s where Don completed high school, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 1949. He continued his education at Wenatchee Valley College. On May 20, 1950, he married Gerre Sonntag in Wenatchee. They made their home together in East Wenatchee. In 1955, Don went to work for the Chelan County P.U.D. as an accountant and continued working until retiring as a controller in 1985 after serving 30 years. They then traveled extensively to Europe, Hawaii, RVing, spending the winter months in Arizona and boating. He was a life member and past Commodore of the Lake Chelan Yacht Club, a former member of the F.O.E Aerie No. 204 and the Wenatchee Elks No. 1186. He was an avid bowler and had worked for Apple Lanes in Wenatchee at nights and bowled on leagues as well as coaching junior bowling leagues. He enjoyed the companionship of his special pets, Gretchen and Heidi. He loved the color red. He is survived by his wife, Gerre, East Wenatchee; son and daughter-in-law, Randi and Cheryl Rich, Spokane; daughter, Vicki Rich, Dallas, TX; two brothers, Ron Rich, Cashmere, Gary Rich, Henderson, NV; one sister, Sandy Ginter, Vancouver; three grandchildren, Scott Rich, Kelly Rich and Stephanie Rich, all of Spokane. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ed Rich. Funeral Services will be held at Telford's Chapel of the Valley Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Tinney officiating. The service will conclude in the chapel with private interment at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those who wish may make memorials to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society or charity of choice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
