Description	:	Mr. Donald Bartlett age 85 years a resident of the Midway Road near Belington departed this life early Monday morning, February 4, 2008 at his home. He was in his usual health and death was unexpected. He was born June 29, 1922 at Belington a son of the late Gordon Clifford and Cora Ella Bartlett. He was in his usual health and death was unexpected. He was born June 29, 1922 at Belington a son of the late Gordon Clifford and Cora Ella Bartlett. He is survived by two sons, Stephen Bartlett of Cockeysville, MD, Donald Bartlett of Reading, Mass.; two daughters, Paula Digenakis of Elkton, MD, Jane Bartlett of Rochester, NY; one sister, Sue B. Smith of Belington and one brother Robert Bartlett of Bedford, OH. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Steven, Robin, Douglas, Leah, and Julianna, his former wife Pauline Bartlett and his dog Jed. Mr. Bartlett was a 1940 graduate of the Belington High School and attended AB College for two years before entering the service. He was a veteran of the US Navy as a naval aviator during WWII serving in the Pacific Theatre. At the time of his discharge he had obtained the rank of Lt. Junior Grade. After his service to his country, Mr. Bartlett graduated from the University of Maryland where he received a Bachelor?s Degree in agriculture. Before returning to Belington, he was a resident of Goldsboro, MD for many years. He belonged to the United Methodist Church of Goldsboro and was presently attending the Belington Baptist Church. He was a life time member of the V.F.W. and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Cambridge, MD. Mr. Bartlett served eight years as Mayor of Goldsboro and served on City Council for numerous terms. He was a member of the Caroline County Fireman Association and was a past president and served for over 45 years in the Goldsboro Volunteer Fire Co. Mr. Bartlett made his living before retirement as a plant manager for Firehouse Foods in Goldsboro, MD. His return to Barbour County renewed old friendships and contacts with classmates. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 210 Brandenburg St in Belington on Thursday, February 7th from 7 to 9 pm and on Friday until 11 am the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Herbert E. Bledsoe of the Belington Baptist Church and Rev. Arden Beck officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery near Belington where full military rites will be accorded by The American Legion Post #44 of Philippi. The Talbott Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Donald Bartlett. Condolences may be expressed to the family at talbottfuneralhome.com
