Description	:	NORFOLK — Memorial services for Donavon "Jack" Hoover, 85, of Norfolk will be at 2 p.m. Monday, at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk. John Petersen will officiate with burial at a later date. Military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644, American Legion Post 16, Army National Guard Honor Guard and the American Legion Riders. He died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. ––––– Donavon "Jack" Hoover, son of Delbert and Elnor (Lutz) Hoover, was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Spencer. Jack attended school in Norfolk and enlisted in the United States Army in 1947. After his enlistment ended, Jack worked as a meat cutter at Hinky Dinky stores. Jack married Wanda Lieding in 1950, in Norfolk. They later divorced. Jack then worked in sales for Gus Glazer Meats in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and the Oscar Meyer Meat Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jack married Alaena Diamon Longe in 1969, in South Sioux City. They lived in Minnesota, where he owned a custom meat butchering business in Hibbing. After Jack and Alaena divorced, he was a car salesman for Rapids Chevrolet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jack is survived by his treasured children, Tammi (Gordon) Craft of Iowa City, Iowa; Todd Hoover of Punta Gorda, Fla.; Trisha (Bob) Baker of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Donavon "DJ" (Alyssa) Hoover of Novi, Mich.; stepchildren, Mark Longe, Michelle Lin and Craig Longe; beloved siblings, Delbert "Dub" (Sharon) Hoover of Omaha; Norma Jean Stueve, Betty (Willie) Bernstrauch and Dode Haire of Norfolk; Jan Cook of Omaha; Larry (Ruth) Hoover of Omaha; and Jim (Ronda) Hoover of Pilot Point, Texas; grandchildren, Alaena, Charles, Madelyn, Gabriella, and Griffin; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Elnor Hoover; daughter, Terry Fitzpatrick; twin brothers, Lynn Hoover and Lyle Hoover; and brothers-in-law, Cal Stueve, Ray Haire and Harlan Cook.
