Description	:	Donna Gayle (Lewis) Campbell was born on October 16, 1918, in Lamoni, Iowa. She passed from this life on May 14, 2019, at the age of 100 years. She was the daughter of Archie Earl and Elcy (Bartholomew) Lewis. She was a life long resident of Lamoni. Donna Gayle was blessed in the “old” brick church in Lamoni by Hubert Case and L.G. Holloway. Read More	Donna Gayle (Lewis) Campbell was born on October 16, 1918, in Lamoni, Iowa. She passed from this life on May 14, 2019, at the age of 100 years. She was the daughter of Archie Earl and Elcy (Bartholomew) Lewis. She was a life long resident of Lamoni. Donna Gayle was blessed in the “old” brick church in Lamoni by Hubert Case and L.G. Holloway. She was baptized into the R.L.D.S. Church on Children’s Day at the age of eight years. She was faithful to her commitment to Christ until her death. In May 1936, she graduated from Lamoni High School. She graduated from Graceland College in 1938. On January 24, 1941, Donna and Frederick Campbell were married in the chapel in the Administration Building on the Graceland College campus. They were married 30 years before Fred’s death in 1971. Two children were born, Steven Lewis and Lois Marie. Donna never applied for a job, although she was employed for many years. She was a bookkeeper at the Lamoni Cooperative Creamery about 14 years. In 1960, she was asked to work in Graceland College’s library. In May of 1961, she was told to move to the Registrar’s office, where she remained until retirement in 1981. She said no to both positions at Graceland before accepting them. Donna Gayle felt family was important, whether biological or by choice. Many young men attending Graceland College boarded with her family as she was growing up. These men along with many college daughters and their families became life-long friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; brothers, Rogene (Marie) Lewis and Dorman (Carolyn) Lewis; and sister, June (Bob) Davies. Survivors include her son, Steven (Debbie) Campbell; daughter, Lois (Larry) Marshall; grandchildren, Scott (Amanda) Campbell, Kristie (Frank) Bateman, Shawn Campbell, and Timothy Marshall; seven great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and their families; and other relatives and friends.
