Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Tyson Konken, Jennifer Wibbels, Jessica Sagehorn, Abby Keiss, Molly Linner, Amy Schwickerath, Michael Nass and Carly Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be Jean’s great-grandchildren. Jean Konken was born April 16, 1929, in Hartington, to Walter and Violet (Anderson) Johnson. She grew up on a farm south of Obert, and attended the McCullough Country School. Jean worked for several rural families until her marriage to Elmer B. Konken Feb. 11, 1951, in Coleridge. She and Elmer farmed north of Coleridge and near Pleasant Valley before moving to a farm south of Coleridge in 1956. Jean worked at Park View Haven Nursing Home for 15 years, from 1980-1995. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Hartington VFW Post #5283 Auxiliary. Jean is survived by her three children and their spouses, Howard James and Linda Konken, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Marva Nass, Fort Collins, Colo.; and Connie and Terry Keiss, Kearney; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola, and husband, Frank Weatherwax, Niobrara, and LaVern Strivens, Dixon; and two brothers, Walter Johnson Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz., and Charles and wife, Mary Johnson, Rutledge, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Elmer, in 2011.
