Daughter of John Coe Hellyer and Oleta Luzetta Draper OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, November 22, 2007 DONNA SIBERT Donna Maxine (Hellyer) Sibert was born March 30, 1924, on a farm northwest of Promise City, Iowa. Her parents were Oleta Luzetta Draper and John Coe Hellyer. To this union three daughters were born: Vona Clark, Donna Maxine Sibert, and Colette Hellyer. Donna died at home in Russell, Iowa on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007. She attended Confidence Elementary School and graduated from Corydon High School in 1941. After graduating high school she taught at Nip and Tuck Country School in Wayne County. She married James (Bill) Sibert in Unionville, Missouri on Oct. 17, 1942. To this union 6 children were born: James Melvin, deceased at 2 days old; Barbara Joann; Richard Eugene; Nancy Elizabeth; Diana Marie; and Duane Merl, deceased at 3 days old. Donna was a farm wife, worked at Gross Galesburg in Chariton as a single needle operator from 1963-1968, custodian for Russell Community building from 1983-1992, Russell Senior Citizen's treasurer from 1992-2003. She took care of the Russell SHARE sign up for many years and volunteered at RSVP and at Russell Community School. Donna loved sewing for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She did garment repairs for many people in the community. She also made wedding and bridesmaid clothing for her children and grandchildren. She really enjoyed crocheting for many years and has made many things for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Colette; her parents, Oleta and Coe Hellyer; two infant sons, James and Duane; her husband, Bill Sibert; sister, Vona Clark; daughter, Nancy Hubby; and a host of brother and sister-in-laws and many friends. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Bob) Chase of Boone; son, Richard (Shirley) Sibert of Russell; daughter, Diana (Roger) Sellers of Boone and son-in-law, Denny Hubby; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton with Pastor Paul Olson and Rev. Sonja Van Dusseldorp officiating. Bearers were Rod Smiley, Thad Chase, Larry Russell, Eric Sellers, Gary Hundley and Jason Sellers. Interment was in the Confidence Cemetery.
