Description	:	The funeral for Donna N. Bird, 65, of Bettendorf, Iowa was held Mon. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home chapel in Devils Lake. Interment was in the Leeds Cemetery. She died Nov. 19, 1997 at the Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. Pastor Stan Hockett officiated. Pallbearers were Roy Walter, Dale Moench, Wendy Rieger, Craig Knoff, Bob Cruse & Roger Skadsem. Honorary pallbearers were Jay Tommasin & Ingvold Swenson. Donna. N. Bird was born Sept. 16, 1932 in McClellan Township of Benson County near Harlow to Joseph & Emma Nelson Sandberg. She lived on the farme with her parents & attended country school until 1943 when the famiy moved to Harlow. She attended school at Harlow until 1950, when she moved to Kenmare to work. On Jan. 13, 1951 she married Lloyd Bird in Devils Lake. He was mobilized Jan. 21, 1951 & they moved to Alabama where he was stationed. She returned to Devils Lake while he was stationed in Japan. Upon his release from active duty in 1952 they moved to northwestern North Dakota. They returned to Devils Lake in 1954, where she lived until 1996. She was employed as a waitress, worked at Ramsey Drug & was also employed by Devils Lake Sioux Mfg. He died July 29, 1995. She moved to Waterloo, NY to live with her son & moved to Iowa in July of this year when he was relocated by his work. She raised & showed Morgan horses throughout the Midwest & Canada. Survivors include 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Thomas & Sharon Bird of West Fargo & Jerry & Cindy Bird of Bettendorf, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; 3 sisters & 2 brothers-in-law, Ellen Scott of Devils Lake, Lois & Ingvold Swenson of Leeds & Carols & Wally Schwols of Minot; & a brother, Nelson Sandberg of Devils Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; a sister, Alice; & 4 brothers, William, Curtis, John & Joseph.
