Description	:	The funeral for Lloyd J. Bird, 63, of Devils Lake will be held Wed. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel in Devils Lake. Interment will be in the Leeds Cemetery. He died July 29, 1995 at MedCenter One Hospital in Bismarck. Stanley Hockett will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen VFW Post 756 of Devils Lake. He attended rural schools in the Norma area. He joined the ND National Guard Jan. 8, 1951. He married Donna Sandberg Jan. 13, 1951 in Devils Lake. He was mobilized Jan. 21, 1951 during the Korean War & served at Fort Rucker, Ala. & in Japan prior to his release from active duty in Oct. of 1952. He returned to Devils Lake where they have since made their home. He worked in the oil fields in the northwestern part of North Dakota until the fall of 1954. From the fall of 1954 until Feb. 2, 1987 he worked at Camp Grafton as a tool room keeper, heavy equipment mechanic & retired as a heavy equipment inspector. During that time he was a member of the 3662nd Maintenance Co. of the ND National Guard. He was a sergeant first class at the time of his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Donna; 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Thomas & Sharon Bird of West Fargo & Jerry & Cindy Bird of Waterloo, Iowa; 2 brothers, Orville Bird of Shingletown, Calif. & Morris bird of Silver Springs, Md.; 4 sisters & 3 brothers-in-law, Mary Ann & Pete Collette of Hawthorne, Nev., Lois Bundy of Battle Mountain, Nev., Marvel & Toby Warner of Hawthorne, Nev. & LuAnn & Robert Wilder of Hayes, Va.; & 4 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents & a brother, Larry.
